Lisa Lasko, the second featured contributor to our new show at Fermanagh Museum explains the thinking behind her work...
Miniature Books by: Lisa Lasko
"The combination of old books with their muted colors and time-aged pages creates a sense of history and roots. I am interested in how books are made, their structure and how they function for both academics and artists. Two contrasting uses, yet they both use books to communicate ideas, thoughts, stories, and meaning. This is a first attempt at creating handmade books, hence, I started off with miniature sized. Books are beautiful in their odd but functional form. They can be made in so many ways, just as they can show so many things. This series of books are mainly left blank, as to focus, not on the subjects of the books but how they are made. At present, I concentrate on textiles in my practice using stitch, fabric and paper. "
